Hello friends! Happy tuesday or quarantine day 3912748 if you’d rather. πŸ™‚ Lets talk about latte’s today. You know, those subtlety sweet easy sippin’ drinks you used to get from your barista but now can’t? Yea, those. I can’t take all the credit here — I was inspired by my bestie Kinleigh who posted about her perfect iced earl grey latte on Instagram the other day and I just had to know why and how it was perfect. So that’s what we’re diving into today: iced earl grey lattes aka Kinleigh’s Latte πŸ™‚

Lets talk about Ratio’s

That’s right. Don’t worry, there is little math involved. What you need to remember is 2:1. Kinleigh told me the first thing you have to do is brew a strong cup of tea. So the ratio is 2 tea bags (earl grey for this recipe) and 8 ounces of water. If you want to make more than one latte in one go, then just increase the ratio: 2 lattes = 4:16; 3 = 6:24 etc. etc. If I can do this math, you can too…

I also recommend brewing to your tea instructions. For instance, I used Tazo Earl Grey Tea and it calls for a brew time of 5 minutes. I would caution you to not over brew your tea as it can turn bitter — and no one likes a bitter latte. πŸ™‚

Depending upon how quickly you want your latte after brewing your tea, you can place the tea in the fridge (remember to take out the tea bags) to let it cool down before assembling the rest of the latte. You could even make a lot of tea (see ratios above) and allow it to cool, cover and refrigerate so you can whip these up super fast.

The Assembly:

Couldn’t be easier. I used lowfat milk in mine, but you can use whatever you like — milk, almond milk, coconut milk, whateves. and I bit of sugar. Maybe 1 tsp per latte. You can of course add more, if you like it sweet. Kinleigh mentioned that she used her milk frother to give it a bit of a boost (on the cold setting) and if you have one, you can certainly use it and if you want one thats about $15 you can get it here.

If you don’t, never fear just use a whisk and quickly beat air into whatever milk you are using. You can totally skip this step too, your latte will be just fine.

So fill your cup with ice, pour over your chilled tea (approx 3/4 way full) and top with your milk/sugar mixture. ta-da! An iced Earl Grey Latte in no time at all.

I hope this holds you over until your favorite coffee shop opens back up! See you next time!

XO Danielle
