Hello hello and welcome to another friyay faves where I round up things I’ve been loving from around the web, world, or otherwise. So lets get to it!
The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg: $13
I finished up this book this week and I have to say, it was rather eye opening to how “we” form and maintain habits throughout our lives. It’s also explains why its so hard to change some of these habits — but also how we might be able to chip away at them if we *really* want to. I bought it on audible so I could listen to it driving to and from work, and I found the reader to be engaging which helped when the book got a little repetitive and lulled. Overall — recommend if you’re into the science behind the “why” we do things as humans.
Nordstrom Trunk Club: $25 (monthly subscription)
I am on month 2 of my Nordstrom trunk club subscription and the vote is still out on if I’ll keep it around long-term or not. I do like it more than fashion box services like Stitch Fix because Nordstrom actually gives you a forum to decide what you want in your box and talking directly with your stylist definitely helps “focus” your trunk to your needs. So far, my second box was better than my first — so we’ll see as we progress how it continues! Stay tuned for an update!
Gillian Perkins on Youtube:
I like Gillian’s Youtube channel for many reasons, but mostly because she has an honest way of speaking to the camera and I think she speaks on a lot of topics that resonate with a lot of people. Whether your a blogger, instagramer, work-from-homer ….or just interested in organizing your life, she’s a great resource to have!
7 Secret Habits of Healthy People: Martha Stewart.com
I like this quick little article because it doesn’t just focus on what someone does and doesn’t eat. It definitely drives home the idea that being “healthy” is more than just what you ate for breakfast or what the scale says, it’s about your determination to be better — whatever that means to you.
Juno & Co Velvet Beauty Sponge: $6
I saw this makeup sponge on Nikkietutorials youtube channel a few weeks ago and I knew I needed to give it a go. I ordered it online and it was back-ordered for a bit (it didn’t say that on their website tho) so when it finally came in I was ready to try it out! So far, I’m enjoying the texture of the sponge (like a velvet microfiber) and it seems to do the job without sucking up too much product (which is what I think beauty blenders do). I do have a couple questions about durability as it already has a small crack in the surface (I’ve only used it 3 times), so we’ll see about that. Overall, for $6 I think its a gret beauty find and if you like to use makeup sponges, like the beauty blender, then you will live this sponge! Oh, and you can use code nikkie to get 10% off!
Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis: $13
This is another book that I’ve recently finished and I would place this one solidly in the “self-help” section of your library. While it has some salient points and I do believe in Rachel’s message, it did get a preachy (to me) at times. If you’re into that, you’ll love this book. If you can get past that part, you’ll love this book. Overall if you’re looking for a great “lift me up” but also “give it to me straight” kind of book then you will like this read. It definitely motivated me to get off my butt and get moving on what I want to do, not what others think I should be doing — ya feel me?
Clarisonic Sonic Eye Awakener Eye Massager: $59
I recently received this Clarisonic Eye Massager in the mail and I was so stoked to give it a go! It feels so nice on the skin and I notice an immediate de-puffing of my under eye when I use this. I typically use it at night after I’ve applied and eye cream to really work it into my skin and I seriously think it’s working! If you have a clarisonic smart device, or you’re thinking about getting one, 10/10 highly recommend this attachment!
Beauty Blender “bounce” Foundation: $40
Ever since I got the beauty blender foundation in the mail it has been in regular rotation in my beauty routine and I have to say I’m in love. I love the lightweight, but full coverage that this product offers and I see very minimal creasing or settling on the skin when I use this foundation. If you are in the market for a new foundation, highly recommend this one!
Aromatherapy Essential Oil Diffusers: $35 for 2
I bought a couple of these a while ago on PRIME day and since then I have to say I’ve been really impressed with their performance as well as with essential oils in general. I like turning on the one that I have in our living room once we’ve cleaned the house just to give it that final touch and the other one I keep in our bathroom and use when I’m having a spa-day at home and treating myself to a hot bath and a facial. Just keeping it real. I definitely feel like I’ve gotten my money’s worth out of these babies and highly recommend them!
Olehenriksen Glow Cycle Retin-ALT Power Serum: $58
So far, I’ve been loving this face serum. I like how light and airy it feels and it really does just sink into my skin. I’ve noticed some subtle changes, but as I’ve only really committed to it for hte past 2 weeks, we’ll need to wait 2 more to see if it really does change anything. Overall though, I think it’s a great alternative to retinal, if you’re sensitive to those kind of things and I really do think I’ll see results at the end of the month.
Well that about wraps it up for this past week and maybe the week before that! I hope you’re having a great Friyay and I’ll see ya next time!
XO,
Danielle
