Hello and happy Super Bowl Sunday! Here’s a quick recipe to help you celebrate your favorite team tonight.
Lets get started! Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1 Lb ground beef (I used 90/10)
- 2 T Olive Oil
- 1 t Salt
- 1 t Pepper
- 2 T chopped garlic
- Mini Pretzel Buns (I got mine from whole foods)
- Sliced cheese
So to assemble, place the ground beef in a bowl and follow with Olive Oil, Salt, Pepper, & garlic. Mix to combine and form 6 patties.
In order for your burgers cook flat and even, use your thumb to make a small indentation in the middle of the burgers. This will prevent them from “poofing” in the pan or on the grill.
Now to cook! I cooked my sliders inside on a griddle pan, but you can certainly use the grill. I cooked them for 3-4 minutes per side. I like my burgers to be slightly pink in the middle, but if you like yours more well-done just cook until the internal temp registers 160°F.
I added the cheese when I flipped the burgers over and then tented the pan with some aluminum foil to help the cheese melt. This is an additional step, but if you’ve ever eaten at a dinner and watched them cook cheese burger, they usually place a bowl of come kind over the burger when they add cheese and this helps trap the heat to melt the cheese without over-cooking the burger — mmmmk? I swear I’m not crazy.
Once your burgers are done, place off to the side and cover with aluminum foil to keep them warm while you toast the pretzel buns. I smear mustard on the cut sides of the buns, then place them on the same pan I cooked the burgers on until the are golden brown & delicious.
Sorry I suck as a blogger and I don’t have pics of that — but I swear its easy!
Anywho, that’s it! assemble your burgers with your favorite toppings and chow down. I served mine with fries, but you do you boo boo and eat them with whatever you want!
Question of the day: mini burgers or full size?
See ya next time!
